‘Lamb’: a rare Ethiopian gem

(Oct 11, 2015, (Ethiopia))--Lamb’ is a tender and beautifully shot debut feature by young Ethiopian director Yared Zeleke. Ephraim has recently lost his mother. He lives in a drought-ridden village in Ethiopia.



One day, his father takes him to stay with cousins in the mountains while he goes to look for work in Addis Ababa.

When Ephraim’s uncle decides to slaughter his only friend, his lamb Chuni, the boy makes up his mind to leave. ‘Lamb’ is the first ever Ethiopian film to be presented in the official selection at the Cannes Film Festival, in the Un Certain Regard section.
